There could be a several reasons your MOICA and MOEACA verification failed:
Card not detected
Your computer is unable to detect your MOICA or MOEACA card.
What you can do:
- Make sure your card is properly inserted into the card reader.
- Wipe the chip with an eraser before inserting it into the card reader
- Check that your card reader is connected correctly and is not faulty.
- Try using a different USB port or card reader, if available.
Forgot PIN or PIN is locked
The default PIN consists of 8 digits:
The last four digits of your National ID, followed by your date of birth (MMDD).
If your PIN has been entered incorrectly multiple times or you have forgotten it, your card may become locked.
What you can do:
- Visit the MOICA MOEACA website to unlock your card or reset your PIN.
- Once your PIN has been successfully unlocked, try the verification again.
Card not activated
Your MOICA or MOEACA card shows as not yet activated.
What you can do:
1. MOICA Card
- Go to the MOICA website
- Select “Certificate Service” > “Certificate Activation”
- Enter your Subscriber Code and set up the PIN
- Complete the activation process
2. MOEACA Card
After your application is approved and you receive the card, you must complete activation within 90 days, or the certificate will be revoked.
- Go to the MOEACA website
- Select “Activate Certificate”
- Complete the process based on your application method
Card Expired
How to renew your MOICA and MOEACA cards upon expiry differs.
MOICA cards can be extended, while MOEACA certificates cannot be extended and must be re-applied upon expiry.
What you can do:
1. MOICA Card
- Validity period: 5 years (can be extended once for an additional 3 years, for a total of 8 years)
Extension eligibility
- From 60 days before expiry up to 3 years after expiry
How to extend (online)
1. Insert your card into a card reader
2. Go to the MOICA website
3. Select “Certificate Services” > “Certificate Renewal”
4. Enter your National ID number, date of birth, and PIN
5. Complete the renewal process
If expired for more than 3 years
- Online renewal is no longer available
- You must visit a Household Registration Office in person with the original copy of your National ID to apply for a new certificate
2. MOEACA Card
- Validity period: 5 years (cannot be extended)
- Once expired, the certificate becomes invalid automatically
Before expiry
- You may apply for renewal within 60 days before expiry
How to reapply
1. Prepare a card reader and your existing certificate
2. Visit the MOEACA website
3. Select “Certificate Application” > “Primary Card Application”
4. Fill in the required information and prepare necessary payment documents
5. After approval, the MOEACA card will be delivered to your registered address
If already expired
-The certificate cannot be renewed online
Card Revoked or Suspended
In certificate management, “Revoked” and “Suspended” have different meanings:
- A revoked certificate is permanently invalid and cannot be restored
- A suspended certificate can be reactivated online
What you can do:
1. MOICA Card
Suspended
If your certificate is suspended:
- Go to the MOICA website
- Select “Certificate Services” > “Suspend/Reactivate Certificate”
- Enter your IC Card Number and Subscriber Code
- Complete the reactivation process online
Revoked
If your certificate has been revoked:
- It cannot be restored
- You must visit a Household Registration Office in person with the original copy of your National ID to apply for a new certificate
2. MOEACA Card
Suspended
If your certificate has been suspended:
- Go to the MOEACA website
- Select “Certificate Services” > “Suspend/Reactivate Application”
- Follow the instructions to restore your certificate
Revoked
If your certificate has been revoked:
- It cannot be restored or reused
- You must submit a new application for a replacement certificate
Verification was successful but you can’t proceed
Your card was verified successfully, but the process did not continue as expected.
What you can do:
- Retry the verification process
- Ensure your card remains inserted and do not remove it until the process is fully completed.
